Orbost is the Snowy River town 15 km up the road from Marlo: shops and fuel, a heritage timber bridge, and the start of the rail trail.

Snowy River Rail Bridge

Over 770 metres long, it's one of Australia's longest timber trestle bridges, and heritage-listed.

The Orbost Arts Centre hosts exhibitions, wood design and live performances. Forest Park next door has shady gums, picnic areas and an adventure playground, and the Sensory Gardens are designed for all ages and abilities.

Rail trail and cycling

The East Gippsland Rail Trail runs west from here towards Bairnsdale. Bike hire is available in town, and Snowy River Cycling runs supported tours with transfers.

The Orbost Club Hotel pours Sailors Grave Brewing beers, East Gippsland Coffee Roasters is in town, and Salt Organics bakes bread.
