Mots Beach, 3 km
The closest ocean beach, at the mouth of the Snowy River. Park on Marlo-Conran Road about 4 km east of the village and follow the boardwalk and the Frenches Narrows Coastal Walk. The foreshore is very wide and sandy, good for walking, kayaking, surfing and fishing. Dogs are welcome on a lead. The beach is not patrolled and may not be safe for swimming.
Corringle
West of the river mouth, between Corringle Slips and Bass Strait. Good for fishing and picnics, but swimming is not advised: Parks Victoria warns of strong rips and currents.
Cape Conran beaches, 18 km
East Cape suits less experienced surfers. West Cape and Salmon Rocks are popular for snorkelling and fishing. Binn Beach and Gunnai Beach are wild ocean beaches for beachcombing. See the Cape Conran guide.
Yeerung River, 26 km
A calm, sheltered bend of the river at Cape Conran makes a placid swimming hole, which is rare on this coast and good for kids. There's a launch ramp for kayaks and canoes.
Swim safely
These are remote beaches, mostly unpatrolled, with rips. Check conditions on Beachsafe before you swim. Paralysis ticks are common on the coast, so check yourself and your dog after walks.
