East Cape
The visitor area has picnic tables, gas barbecues and ocean views, and the East Cape Boardwalk has signs on the Cape's Aboriginal history. Fires are not permitted.
Salmon Rocks and West Cape
Follow the trail past West Cape to Salmon Rocks Beach, popular for fishing, snorkelling and the views. Joiner's Channel and West Cape are good for snorkelling and diving, and West Cape Beach is a surf spot.
Yeerung River
A calm bend of the tannin-stained river makes a swimming hole that suits kids, with a launch ramp for kayaks and canoes. Less experienced surfers should stick to East Cape rather than Yeerung Beach.
Walks
- Cape Conran Nature Trail, 3.2 km past beaches, rock pools, banksia woodland and lookouts
- East Cape beach to the Yeerung River, about 3 km along the sand
Whales
Humpback and southern right whales pass between May and October.
Staying near Cape Conran
The park's Banksia Bluff campground has been closed for works, so check Parks Victoria before you plan to camp. Marlo Hideaway is a comfortable alternative 18 km away, with self-contained units, a pool and the pub down the road. Dogs are only allowed at booked dog-friendly campsites in the park, so if you bring your dog, leave them at your unit for the day.
