Fishing in Marlo

Marlo is a fishing village first. The sheltered Snowy River estuary fishes all year, the surf beaches are minutes away, and Bemm River, the "Bream Capital", is an easy day trip.

What you can catch

The estuary holds bream, flathead, bass and mulloway. Divers go after crayfish and abalone along the coast. Further east, Bemm River adds perch, salmon, tailor and mullet, with trout and bass above the falls.

Boat ramps near Marlo

  • Marlo jetty, in the village, a short walk from us
  • Old Marlo Road, at the end of the road, for the Brodribb River
  • Corringle Slips, a concrete ramp on the estuary side
  • Lochend Road, for the Snowy River

Boat launching is not permitted at Mots Beach.

Surf fishing

The ocean beaches either side of the river mouth are good for surf fishing, as are Salmon Rocks and Yeerung Beach at Cape Conran. See our beaches guide.

Before you cast

You need a Victorian recreational fishing licence for all Victorian waters, including the ocean. Check current bag and size limits with the Victorian Fisheries Authority.
